First of all you need a CD-ROM drive capable of reading digital audio extraction. Any SCSI CD-ROM(Nearly) should work and a good IDE CD-ROM will usually work. This picture shown below is the RIGHT way of ripping from a cd , it will give you 100% the same soundquality as on the original cd(If you got a good Cd-ROM) . Listen for errors(there should not be any if you got an good CD-ROM and not to scratchy CD:s). There are quite a lot of different mp3 encoders out today but i can only recommend three(32 bit programs) of them if you want hi quality mp3:s.The different between a good encoder and bad encoder is Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec , All of these encoders below use it. Producer Profersional 2.0 This encoder is capable of producing very high quality MP3's and have a good user interface.If you don't want to spend some $200+ on this encoder just look around(Irc,Ftp:s),i'm sure you will find it.If you wanna try Producer Pro 1(same quality) just use ftp search ,the program name is "l3prod_p.exe". The file name for version 2 is "prodps.exe" (Harder to find i guess). Audioactive Production studio The same good quality as Producer Pro above but I think it has some advantages in the user interface ,good work. The prise tag for this version(Pro) is over $350 , not cheap!!.According to the website, this seems to be a 30 day trial. If you wanna find it go to their homepage or FTP search ,the program name is "aaps105.exe". This is my favorite !! ***** Mp3 Compressor 0.9f Mp3 Compressor was a good one, before it was taken offline because of copyright infringment problems with Fraunhofer. Mp3 Compressor 0.9f, isn't really an encoder, basicly it is a front end that comes illegally bundled with Fraunhofer ACM codec.If you don't have or can't find the other two encoders ,hopfully you can still find this one on the net somewhere. The file name is "mp3comp09.exe". Just one more thing, Always encode with High Quality(HQ) mode on ,never use LQ. And always encode the mp3 with AT LEAST 128kBit/s, 44.1khz, Stereo. THAT's ALL FOLKS
