The Pyrenees 2000

Some photoes from the hike on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees September 2000.

We walked from Sallent de Gallego to Refugio de Respomuso where we spent
the night. The next day we continued from there over the Collado de Piedrafita
to Balneario de Panticosa.

Claes, Yvonne and Göran stride up, still on a low altitude,.
We have just left Sallent de Gallego behind us.

We go down from the highest pass (Collado de Piedrafita, 2782m) of the trail
after a tiresome ascent in a lot of snow.

We also did a hike in the Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido.
We directly took the zig-zag path up to Senda de los Cazadores,
which we followed into the Ordesa valley. We stayed the night in
Refugio de Goriz and continued the next day to Refugio de Pineta.
The last part we had the fortune to be accompanied by Marga,
a Spanish mountaineer that was our guide. She had been unable
to do any climbing due to the grey and cloudy weather.

Enjoying lunch on the path.

Marga has found a way to avoid getting thirsty in the mountains.

The men are polite and let the women go first down a steep passage.
Yvonne leads on down before Marga, Hasse and Claes.

Claes and Marga check the signpost to see that we are on the right track.

Marga leads Claes into the fog.

We take a short break in the fog while we go down into the Pineta valley.

The next break is when we have just come out of the fog.

Marga does not need help from Rolf to climb - she is just about
to receive a carrot as a nice snack. Yvonne is busy rinsing hers.

Tip:
We had good use of the Lonely Planet book Walking in Spain ISBN 0-86442-543-0
when planning our trip.
