Axl to compensate Slash on the guitar? New album postponed 12 months?

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose is trying to fill the shoes of his star strummer Slash - by taking up the guitar himself. The Paradise City rocker is frantically learning their hit tracks so he can play them as well as sing. The move follows the departure of lead guitarist Slash after months of run-ins within the group. And while Rose had promised to have his next LP out this year, there is now thought to be no chance of a new album for at least 12 months. The Sweet child o' mine singer is too busy practicing, and when he's not working on his new talent, he spends his time reading up on English literature. A spokesperson at Geffen publicity declared, "They haven't even begun recording any new songs and the soonest it will happen is the fall of next year. At the moment Axl is far too busy learning to play guitar and doing lots of reading." The source adds that Rose wants to take up the instrument "because he finds it easier writing songs that way".
