While Woodstock '99 in Wiener-Neustadt,
Austria A slew of big-name rock bands -- possibly up to 40 acts -- will be announced for the N.Y. shows on July 23-25 in early April; however, Metallica and Limp Bizkit are already confirmed for the festival. The Austria show, which was slated for July 16-18, was canceled because, as Woodstock organizer Michael Lang says in a statement, "it became clear that for Woodstock to be a safe and successful event in Europe more time was needed. We are currently considering whether to reschedule the event for the summer of 2000 or 2001." The acts that were said to be on the Austria lineup were Metallica, Alanis Morissette, Iggy Pop, Skunk Anansie, Faithless, Anouk, Herbert Gronemeyer, Vier, Italian rock stars Zucchero and Vasco Rossi, hip-hoppers Die Fantastischen, theatrical rockers Drahdiwaberl, Turkey's Sezen Aksu, and possibly Guns N'Roses. Ticket holders for the show can return their tickets for a refund by sending their name, address, phone number, and bank account number to Osterreich Ticket, Heumuhlgasse 11, 1040, Vienna.
