Do you want Finale plug-ins to be translated to your language? Join the translator list!
PDK Tools version 2 has cross-language support, which means that a 3rd party plug-in programmer can fairly easily provide translations to non-English languages (as long as the characters resides within the western character set).
A typical Finale
plug-in contains very few text elements. The standard ones, like most push buttons
will be translated directly by PDK Tools.
However, each plug-in contains some elements (both in text fields and in message/alert
boxes) that need to be translated separately. That's why a list ("network")
of helpful Finale users that could assist as translators was created - a resource
that can be used by any 3rd party plug-in developers.
The idea here is: The MORE translators that are available for a specific language, the LESS work for each individual translator.
How does this work?
If you are interested
in providing this occasional help with translation, please send an e-mail to:
jari.williamsson@mailbox.swipnet.se
Include this information:
- Your name
- Your e-mail address (where you want translation queries to be sent)
- The language that you can translate to
This information will be put in a text file, that can be downloaded by any 3rd party plug-in developer from the finpdk file space (available only to the members of the finpdk group). Please note that your info will not be put on any HTML web page, so it should be protected from "spam robots".
You will need no extra tools to be able to help with the translation - all instructions from the plug-in developer will be provided through your e-mail address. All translation will be made from English.
You agree to provide
your translations totally free of charge. In return, you'll get your 3rd party
Finale plug-ins translated to your native language.
Please note that you are not "forced" to do any translation work if
your don't have the time at the moment (see below).
What would be required of me as a translator?
If you are a member
of this translator list and get a translation query from a plug-in developer,
you have 2 options:
1. Translate the text
or
2. If you don't have the time at the moment, reply back to the plug-in developer
and tell him/her so. The plug-in developer will then send the query to some
other translator on the list.
Thanks for your interest in this project!
