You will find the software in the BikiniDemo.zip file
Use the "Instapp" installer program to install "Bikini_Demo.prc".
"Instapp" came with the PC software together with the PalmPilot.
After you Hotsync You will find Bikini as an application in your PalmPilot
The Conduit is named Bikini10.dll, Place the file in the same folder as you installed the other PalmPilot PC-Software such as Pilot and HotSync.
The Version is found in the "About Box" of HOTSYNC.
Use Regedit.exe to find how many conduits already installed in your system
Start Regedit and open the Key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm Computing\Pilot Desktop\.
If you are using HotSync2.0 you will find the Key
Look for Keys named Application0, Application 1 and so on. The first additional Conduit is numbered "Application0", The second is called "Application1" and so on. If there are no keys named Application, then Bikini will be the first additional Conduit installed.
There are two registry textfiles together with Bikini. BikiniHot11.reg and BikiniHot20.reg. BikiniHot11.reg is used if you use Hotsync1.1 and BikiniHot20.reg if you are using HotSync2.0. Open the Textfile Hot11.reg or Hot20.reg using a texteditor for example. Change the first line
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm Computing\Pilot Desktop\ApplicationX]
Change the text "ApplicationX" to the NEXT FREE Consecutive number. Application0 if bikini will be the first, Application1 if second... Save the file.
Double click on the BikiniHot11.reg (or BikiniHot20.reg depending on which Hotsync you are running.) The settings included in the contents of the .reg-file should then have been added to the Windows Registry.
You must restart Hotsync before the next Hotsync.
When you Hotsync your Pilot, the Bicycle log will be found in the file:
Pilot\yourname\Bikelog\BikeLog.csv The yourname folder is placed in the folder where the PalmPilot software is installed.
The Bicycle log is a "comma separated variable" text file, usually called a .CSV file. The first line contains configuration parameters, They will be described in a later release.
The Next following lines contain:
"timestamp in 1/100'th second ticks" , "The number of wheelturns since last Timestamp."
The Bikelog.csv can be imported into many spreadsheet programs, such as Microsft Excel and from there you can process it.
There is a helper Excel File (FormatBikelog.xls) in the Zip file. It contains an Excel Macro that can import a Bikelog, Calculate current speed and draw a graph.
If you want to take a look at an example of a logfile, here are some examples.
