Collaborative partners:

· Janus Telepharmacology

· Umea University, LITU

· SUMMIT at Stanford University

· School of Medicine at Stanford University

Aims and goals of the project:

To strengthen and simplify the ledarning process of pharmacological and clinical principles by illustrating such principles in drug related patient cases presented using web-based interactive techniques as an integrated part of group based tecahning.

The patient cases should help the student to argue about best choices of drug therapy and drug treatment schedules but also help them to learn principles of individualised dosage and to be trained in critical methods of evaluating results from clinical trials.

Plans 010701-011231

The plans have been outlined in the joint meeting in Stockholm in June 2001.

1.      A revised version of the website will be produced to middle of October 2001.

This revision will simplify interaction between students and teachers and increase the functionality in the presentation of the cases.

2.      The patient cases will be revised-several will be simplified. Both Californian and Swedish students will be involved in this work.

3.      Preliminary manuscripts will be finished. Lars L Gustafsson has the overall responsibility together with Phyllis Gardner and Parvati Dev at Stanford.

a.       a technical paper

b.      a concept paper

c.       a paper on the course and the assessment results

d.      a paper on the development process-together with the ISP-VL project

4.      Assessment report

The assessment report will be further developed according to results from the

Joint workshop in June.

5.      Development of  a long term plan for continuation of the collaboration. The goal is to refine the website so it also contains more intelligent search and presentations tools. A major effort is to fund this longterm collaboration that was agreed on at the June meeting in Stockholm.
