Strategy:
The strategy for this deck is fairly simple...however it requires
a large amount of patience.
On the first turn, play Twists In The Pattern BEFORE the Action
round to reduce your Pattern and your opponents Pattern
by 1 each. The reduction is necessary to buy yourself some time.
With his Pattern down to 1, the Hero will have a hard time replacing
his characters even with the Pull of the Taveren. He will
need to come to the battleground and fight for at least 1 Pattern
token in order to play any of the good Taveren replacements.
And that is where the next part of your deck comes in...
During the 1st action round, use Into The Fight to get your Darkhound
Pack into the Pattern challenge. If you didnt roll enough
symbols with Sammael, then go ahead and reduce your last Pattern,
but the point here is to get the Darkhounds out as soon as possible.
This is where you will see the importance of using Twists In
The Pattern. The Hero will need an extra Pattern (or more if
hes not using Pull of the Taveren), however he will
not want to put his non-replaced Taveren against the Hounds
because of their deadly damage effect text. Now comes the time
where you will need some patience...
Use the Darkhound Pack in the Pattern challenge as long and as
often as possible. They are there to stop the opponent from gaining
Pattern tokens while your deck slowly builds enough characters
and troops. There will come a time when the Hero will have enough
characters out there and simply try to swarm the Darkhound Pack
to get it out of the way. Fine. If you feel the Darkhounds have
bought you enough time by then, then leave them in the Pattern.
They will probably die, but theyll take 1 or 2 of the Heros
characters with them and you still have another Darkhound Pack
as well as the Ruby Dagger coming.
This is where the fun starts because you have more damage dealing
ability in this deck than the Hero can possibly imagine. Make
good use of cards like Preemptive Strike, Overrun, Blood Tide,
Fireball, Incendiary Strike and The Telling Blow. Your Forsaken
will help you make Assination Attempts a breeze and the Into
The Fights will help you get them out.
In the end, when the Last Battle comes and the Heros wounded
and bandaged characters step up to face your army of Forsaken,
The Great Lord Comes will kick into effect and stain the Pattern
with the blood of his Taveren!
