THE FINE
When I visited London in 1997, I foolishly believed that a "Day Pass" would last 24 hours, as it does in Stockholm.
It didn't.
Here's the Penalty Fare Notice I got the morning after my arrival.
Upon closer examination I have found three errors on this fine.
Wrong gender, I'm not female. (trust me, I've checked and re-checked)
Wrong reason, the ticket was 02 Out of Date, not 07 Restricted
The Authorised Collector mis-spelled "Charing Cross"
Even after this incident, London still is one of my favourite cities. If you have the chance, go see it. Just watch out for traffic coming from the wrong side, be prepared that soot will clog up your sinuses in about two days and keep in mind that a "Day Pass" expires at midnight.
