302. Funklenk Panzer Abteilung

When the allied forces landed in France, this battalion was still forming. It was intended to use three existing companies to form the new battalion. These were 4./301 Pz.Abt. (Fkl), 315. and 317. Pz.Kp. (Fkl).1 On 10 June the battalion had ten StuG.2

The 4./301. Pz.Abt. (Fkl) fought with 2. Pz.Div. and on 2 July it was decided to let the company remain with 2. Pz.Div. and use 316. Pz.Kp. (Fkl) instead.3 At this moment, the company was with the Pz.Lehr. Division at the battle front.4

The battalion never fought in Normandy. It was located near Vouziers on 5 August and it was still not decided to commit the battalion.5 Eventually it was sent to Warsaw in mid-August.6
