206. Panzer Abteilung

The 206. Pz.Abt. was formed in December 1943 for the 7. Army. It was located west of Cherbourg on 5 June.

On 1 April 1944 the battalion had a strength of 385 men and the following AFV:

28

Hotchkiss

10

Somua

6

B 2

2

R 35

On 10 June it was reported that the battalion possessed 46 captured tanks, a number identical to that on 1 April. It was suggested that ten of the battalions Hotchkiss tanks should be exchanged with ten Somua from 21. Pz.Div., but if this was actually accomplished or not is unclear.

The battalion was among the units isolated in the Cherbourg area. It was subsequently destroyed and never rebuilt.
