1151. Artillerie Abteilung
The battalion was formed in northern France, in the area of 15. Army, during December 1943.1 It remained in that area until the allied invasion. On 15 May 1944 it was located near St. Valery en Caux.2 At the beginning of June the battalion was subordinated to 245. Inf.Div. and had three batteries, each with four captured Russian 12,2 cm howitzers.3 The battalion was motorized.4
Except for one battery the battalion was subordinated to 346. Inf.Div. on 8 June and ordered to join the division in its attacks on the British bridgehead over Orne.5
It seems to have remained in the area east of Orne for much of the campaign.6
On 1 September the battalion had four howitzers remaining.7
